About
While this guide is not meant to be a full manual of the Avaya PBX and phone system, I am hoping it can be used to by people with limited telephony experience, but may have to carry out some basic operations in their company. I am not a telecommunications engineer, but I found trying to find documentation on carrying out the most basic commands almost impossible to come by.
There are basically two methods for administrating a PBX, directly from a terminal connected to the PBX or from a PC using Avaya Site Administration software. The Avaya Site Administration software makes it much easier to manage a PBX as it uses a fairly easy to use graphic interface.
If you use the software administration tool, you do not have to learn the commands that you would use from a terminal. However, it can help a great deal knowing at least a few of the basic commands in case you do not have access to the Site Administration tool.
This guide covers both digital and IP phones.
